SuperCatch Support
Testing with your club? Start with the testers page - it covers the phone you need, getting the app, your free plan and what to try.
The fastest way to tell us something is inside the app: Menu → Send feedback, tap the microphone, talk, Send. It tells us what you were looking at, so you don't have to.
Can't use the app at all? Email support@supercatch.co.nz and a person will reply. Tell us what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, and roughly when - the app keeps crash reports with the coordinates scrubbed out, so a time lets us find yours.
Getting started
- Get the app. Club testers on iPhone install it through Apple's TestFlight (iPhone 11 or newer, or SE 2nd generation or newer, on iOS 26 or later) - see the testers page. Everyone else, and Android, opens supercatch.co.nz/app in the phone's browser. There is no Android app.
- Sign up with your email address in Menu → Settings → Account, or go straight to sign up. We will email you a link to confirm your address.
- Your plan is switched on. Buying plans opens after testing; until then we switch plans on by hand (club testers: see the testers page).
- On the web app, add it to your home screen so it opens full screen like any other app:
- iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
Everything needs an account and a plan, the chart included. Until your plan is on, the app shows a plain map with a note that the chart comes with a plan.
Plans
Two plans, bought by the month in New Zealand dollars, GST included. Nothing renews. Ocean includes everything in Chart. Buying opens after testing; until then plans are switched on by us.
Chart - NZ$5 a month, or NZ$40 for twelve months (two months free)
For New Zealand waters. The chart - charted depths, contours, coastline detail and hazards, from LINZ - covers New Zealand waters only. Outside New Zealand there is no marine chart. Chart includes the New Zealand marine chart (LINZ and NIWA contours, soundings, depth bands, seabed type, hazards, cables, marine reserves and their rules), tide times, Sea height and swell, Wind and gusts, Current, the catch log with conditions stamped, trips, Marks, Fish counter and Club grids.
Ocean - NZ$14.95 a month November to April, NZ$10 a month May to October
For New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific from Lord Howe to Fiji. Ocean works everywhere SuperCatch covers: sea temperature, chloro, fronts, swell, wind and current are not limited to New Zealand waters. If you fish outside New Zealand, this is the plan for you (the marine chart inside it is still New Zealand only). Chloro Day is New Zealand only, and SST Stable stops at 180° - it does not reach the Lau Group.
Everything in Chart, plus sea temperature (SST Live and Day in all fifteen coverage boxes, SST Stable to 180°), Chloro (Live and Stable, and Day in New Zealand), Fronts, Crew, and sea temperature and chloro on the reading card and on every catch.
A padlock on a layer in the bottom strip means it is not in your plan. Your plan is shown in Menu → Settings.
Insights - NZ$1.00 a month
Insights (Menu > Insights) answers questions about your own catch log. Every account has NZ$1.00 of Insights a month, measured by what each answer really costs to produce - a short question uses less than a big one. The bar above the question box shows how much of this month's allowance is used. When it reaches 100% Insights stops and says so; it answers again from the 1st of next month. Reading paper diary photos uses the same allowance. There is no question count and nothing to top up.
Account and password
- Log in / sign up: Menu → Settings → Account, or log in here.
- Forgot your password? On the log-in screen, tap Forgot and enter your email. We send a reset link that works once and lasts two hours; it opens a page where you set a new password. Changing your password logs out your other devices.
- No email arrived? Check your spam or junk folder, then ask for another link.
- Your data: Menu → Settings → Download my data gives you one file with your catches and their conditions, the positions you shared, your trips, photos and voice notes. To delete your account, email us - see the privacy policy.
Using it offshore
Before you leave signal, open Menu → Take it offshore and download an offline pack:
- New Zealand region - the chart, contours and seafloor for the whole country, plus SST Day with its slider and isotherms. Its sea temperature refreshes in the background whenever you have signal.
- Detail area - draw a box over the water you will fish for a sharper chart there. It sits on top of the region pack, so download the region first.
Packs are New Zealand only. The size is shown before anything downloads. Offline, SST Day and the chart you have packed work fully; layers a pack does not carry are dimmed, and the map tells you when you are outside your pack. Catches still log with no signal; wind, pressure and sea temperature fill in when you are back in range.
Quick fixes
- A layer is empty or patchy. It is usually still loading - a badge says so and it retries on its own - or it is cloud: the hourly satellite cannot see through it. Try SST Day or Stable, or wait for the next hour. Chloro reads sunlight, so after dark Chloro Live shows the evening's last daylight picture and tells you how old it is. Grey on Chloro means no reading there - cloud, or too close to land.
- The app looks out of date. Updates install themselves and the app reloads when a new version is ready. If something still looks stale, close the app fully and open it again.
- Data will not load. Check you have signal, then close the app fully and open it again.
- A layer has a padlock. It is not in your plan - see Plans above. With no plan yet, every layer has one.
- Location is not showing. Tap Locate me and allow location for your browser. SuperCatch only uses location while it is open in front of you.
